Our story
A little backstory
Sometime last year, I became unsatisfied with some of the devotionals I was using. They were good, even amazing, and would have worked best for many other people at that point. But for me, I was hungry for something more. I needed something very real and practical. I needed something that addressed the day-to-day issues I was facing as someone who has a skill, wants to spend time growing that skill, and wants to build a meaningful life while growing her spirit and not retrogressing in her walk with God.
The Holy Spirit laid these words in my heart: “You will write the kind of book you want to read.” The idea to write a practical and relatable devotional, rooted in the Word yet addressing the daily issues young leaders and professionals face, became a thing. I nurtured it for a while and kept it to one side, thinking it was not for this version of me.
While I pondered how to start, in my day-to-day activities, in simple moments, the Holy Spirit would highlight certain topics for me to write on, and I would jot them down. On one of those days, my friend said, “You write a lot. We need to get access to all these things in your journal.” Those words reinforced the idea. Shout out to Adomu Blessing Faith. Thank you for being an encouragement.
The first topic I wanted to start with was faith. I had started gathering books on faith, passages of Scripture and sermons to listen to, and planning how to go about it, improving my knowledge before starting to write. This was around February 2026.
But on the 7th of March 2026, I was praying out of weariness, because I was weary that particular day. All I wanted to pray about was strength. Then He drew my attention to Isaiah 40:29. Lo and behold, He moved me from being weary to being full of strength. I literally felt strengthened that day. Not only that, He also highlighted what to start with. The Holy Spirit said, “Start the writing from Wisdom.”
In my first attempt at a name, I used “Unconventional Wisdom: A 30-Day Daily Dose of Wisdom for Young People in the Marketplace.” But as time went by, more clarity came, and here we have the devotional today: Unconventional Wisdom: 30-Day Devotional for Leaders and Builders to Learn Godly Wisdom.
This can serve both as a devotional for personal use and as a training manual for teachers and disciplers to teach godly wisdom.
